Come and join us in the Pyrenees for some great scenic riding alongside the exciting opportunity of participating in the L’Areogeoise Granfondo.
21st – 28th June 2020
Based in Quillan- in the picturesque region of Aude, Southern France – we will undertake a range of rides throughout the week, in the foothills and into the mountains, before tapering prior to the final Big Event.
During the week, in the lead up to the event, you will be looked after on the road and at our base by myself (a BC qualified and Training Peaks registered coach) and our hosts at La Vue Guesthouse, Steve and Lou Wood. In preparation for our big weekend we will set off each day on a 3-4 hour ride in the mountains around Quillan enjoying the scenery whilst building stamina for the event ahead. The riding will be challenging but very enjoyable with everyone’s needs being catered for by Steve and Myself.
As is always the case when staying at La Vue, the day will begin with breakfast and light refreshments will be provided each day on our return. You will then be able to rest and relax in the friendly atmosphere in the lounge, on the Balcony, or enjoy time in the garden with a dip in the pool before later partaking in a delicious, Home cooked, evening meal.
In the two days before the big Event we will be riding less and therefore will be able to enjoy the local Lake and amenities.
Cost is based on shared rooms with the possibility of £150 single room supplement. (Subject to availability).
Flights will need to be arranged by participants to and from Carcassone to arrive early evening.
Cost £1,199.95
The route for the event starts in Tarascon-sur-Ariege and finishes up the Legendary Plateau de Baille. On the way though we will also take in Pas de Souloumbrie, the beautiful Col du Pradel, the now famous Col de Montsegur, which was used in the 2019 Tour. then we loop around towards the start to take on the Pas de Souloumbrie again before dropping down to Les Cabannes at the foot of Plateau de Baille.
In 2018 I went out to the Pyrenees for a week before completing the L’Areogeoise Granfondo.
This was a great week of cycling with great company. Steve and Nick were perfect hosts whilst I was on the bike. We got to do some amazing routes before the big event on the weekend..
Lou’s cooking is second to none and I always looked forward to getting back in the afternoon to have our meal after a beer and a dip in the pool.
